2009 California Golden State Downhill Championship – Round 3

“The Heat Is On!” Racing in Fontana, CA during July seems crazy… but yes we were there. It was a two run format which really amplified the heat factor!

The pits looked respectable, however, you could tell that things on the Cross Country side were a little slower… probably because of the 100  degree plus temps I am sure!

Downhill shuttles were “business as usual“.

Dave Collins, Race Promoter of  Crash Innovations, took a pretty bad tumble during Saturday’s practice.

This brought out the Fontana paramedics.

Unfortunately Dave was taken away suffering from a broken patella (Knee Cap).

A view of the early morning shuttle line, in preparation for our final practice.

The KHS weapon of choice at Fontana is always the Lucky 7!

David K struggled with the heat this weekend… so much so that he actually had to be hooked up to an IV for dehydration.

I had two consistent runs Sunday (which weren’t quite good enough for a podium), but I was pretty close with an 8th place overall finish.
